Where has the "America of my dreams" gone?
I dont know if I am qualified to comment on the accomplishments
we can claim in educating our young but I'll give it a try.
I have two wonderfull daughters that have been educated entirely
by the public school system with a good infusion of family values
and encouragement by both me and their mother. The results can
be rated superb since both are quite successfull and most important
possess the confidence it takes to succeed in this increasingly
complex world. Unfortunately I see them as rare exeptions rather
than anything that indicates the education system is doing a
good job in educating our young. More and more often we hear
that schools are spending way too much time teaching the young
how to put a rubber on a cucomber as a big push into real life.
As for math which I consider vital in order to succeed in this
complex world teachers are turning to the calculator (computer
now) more than encouraging the use of the brain to thinkand
understand that one hundred dollars is made up of either a onehundred
dollar bill,or two fiftyes,or five twenties or ten ten or twenty
fives or one hundred singlesetc etc. . I have been educated
by a sole teacher the first five years of my life in school
with shockingly positive results and that equates with the quite
popular system in this country of home schooling. In my opinion
home schooling is far superior than the public school system
will ever get and yet here comes a shocker by the disgusting
liberal court system in California that makes home schooling
illegal.Couple that with the way the ACLU has made God exit
all schools and you get an idea of the current mess we are in."Try
and figure that one out for me, I cannot"
