EARLY CLEMENCY FOR FATHER’S DAY!
Followers of baseball know that baseball’s #1 pitcher, Roger Clemens, has again signed up with the Houston Astros to pitch this year.
A highly unusual aspect of his contract is that before pitching for the major league club,
He will pitch games for the Astros’ minor league teams in Class A, Double A, and Triple A. The Astros team calls it a warm-up program. Roger doesn’t need warm-ups.
Think of the positive side of this maneuver. Every player in the Astros minor league system can be motivated by the positive example of the best pitcher there is. Roger is the kind of guy who will freely give advice to help any young player.
What a great player development strategy!
Equally important is that Roger’s son, Koby plays 3rd base for the Class A team.
When I saw this picture, I thought of the movie "Major League" when 3rd baseman Dorn handed the ball to Wild Thing Vaughn and said "Strike this #@%&* Out!"
Playing a professional baseball game with your son is a great lifetime highlight for any Father. No one deserves it more than Roger. Roger would fly to Colorado to cheer for his son playing in a tournament and then fly back to Houston the same day so that he could pitch the next day for Houston.
What a great Father’s Day treat! The team nickname of Legends is just perfect.
