A New King in Town. Governor Dick Perry has finally earned his Crown by re-election and became an M.D at the same time.
This week he ordered that all girls will have to be vaccinated against cervical cancer before entering 6th grade in the fall.
The State legislature is in session and wonders why this was not presented to them.

Many parents have objected by saying they will get the vaccine when they think it is proven safe.

The intriguing part of this decision is that Perry's former campaign manager is now a lobbyist for Merck who makes the drug.
A competing drug is expected by the end of the summer, but probably too late for the fall semester.

If the State government was really concerned, they would provide a voluntary subsidized way for students to be vaccinated.
