Dear Youngen,
Me and Nonna just came back from viewing the movie United 93 and
we both found it quite disturbing.
09/11/01 was quite a dark date for us,and for many reasons. I was on an
AA
flight from Milan to Chicago and while on the sky over the Atlantic we
were turned back and sent to Heathrow airport in England where I was
(actually I felt) like a Bin Laden prisoner for 3 days before being
able to fly back to the USA.That same day your Bisnonno was diagnosed
with lung cancer and lived a very short time after that diagnoses.Your
Nonnas job felt jopardized for a long time after that due to the effect
that day had on business. Since that day the world has never been and
will never be the same. Sometimes I try to comprehend the difference
between the world I inherited and the world I'll live for you. What a
monumental difference between the two! "huge".
It is unfortunate but it is a reality that there has been a huge
increase in the hate between races in the world.
The success enjoyed by the USA has fueled a tremendous increase in hate
coming from many parts of the world and for a variety of reasons some
quite little and trivial and some not. Not one of these in my view
deserving of such a punishement as the events of nine-eleven inflicted
on all people in the USA.I hope your generation will find a way to
solve even
partially some of these world differences that exist today. We dont
know yet (only my mother does) if you are a boy or a girl, in either
case though the opportunities life offers you are many and quite even
for both sexes. Things were much different though when I was born and
very tough if you were a girl then. When you are at an age I can tell
you about my american dream I am sure it will thrill you and it will
make you quite proud of being my grandkidd.
