Dear Kiddo!
I'm still sitting on the same spot and loving to tell you all this
avalanche of memories about me and my childhood.(me? My childhood? was
I ever a child? sometimes I think it is a dream for me too). I remember
how I was looking forewars to the "Vendemmia" the grape harvest at Zio
Antonio. We would go early in the morning and I would have a feast on
fresh fruit Apples pears of course grapes prunes and other species now
I cannot recall. I would help in picking grapes and fill my basket.
At noon we would spread a blanket on the gras we would enjoy lunch all
together. Quite often my uncle would crack a joke and more often then
that he would share his wisdom especially with the young like me.
My aunty Filomena was more stern and seldom in the mood to make us
laugh.
My father had a unic understanding with them," He would help them in
the late years and upon his death the
land would be his"My father ended up paying a lot with his health and
never got the benefit of the fruit because he died before inheriting
the land. We got it later and my mother sold for a pittance because by
then me and my sister were gone and the last thing my mother needed was
more land to care for.
How bout this al malorckey, interestingeeeeehhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
Next stop Ancuny.
Love U Kiddo
